Am I the ideal candidate for otoplasty?
There are several variations of ear deformity, each of which needs to be treated differently. Generally, otoplasty is performed to correct the excessive protrusion of the ears and place them in a more normal position. Otoplasty is the surgery for protruding ears that show a certain form of unsightly congenital deformity. These imperfections vary between the folds of the anthelix, too wide retroauricular angles, and the voluminous concha. The surgical approach that can bring the necessary modification for this type of deformities is called otoplasty, allowing the correction of protruding or deformed ears. This surgery lasts between one and two hours. It is generally performed under general anesthesia but can be done under local anesthesia. If local anesthesia is used, the patient can go home a few hours after the operation; however, if general anesthesia is used, a two-day hospital stay is necessary before the patient can go home. What to expect after surgery

The dressings will be left in place for a period of 1 to 2 weeks and will be changed periodically by a nurse. When the bandages are removed, the ears will appear swollen and bluish (bruises). This type of mark is normal and will disappear after about 4 weeks. Slight swelling will be visible for a few weeks, and the sutures can be removed about 1 week after surgery. The patient will be able to resume light activities within a week. The surgeon will give advice on the level and type of activities allowed depending on the nature of the intervention performed.
