Which areas can liposuction correct?
Liposuction can be performed on all areas of the body with fat deposits. The areas most often treated with liposuction (or liposculpture) in women are the abdomen (abdominal liposuction), abdominal belt, flanks, thighs, knees, saddlebags, and also the buffalo hump. In men, the most commonly treated areas are the abdomen, flanks, mammary glands (gynecomastia), armpits, and double chin.
1. Abdominal liposuction
Abdominal liposuction treats a small round belly with a fat deposit and good quality skin (elasticity, density, and firmness). The principle of the procedure is to make almost invisible incisions of a few millimeters in the folds of the pubis and navel. When the skin on the abdomen is too loose, or if it risks becoming loose after the removal of a significant amount of fat, abdominal liposuction needs to be combined with a tummy tuck, called abdominoplasty.
2. Knee liposuction
Excess fat on the knees creates an unharmonious and heavy appearance of the legs. Knee liposuction reduces the inner and upper parts of the knees. It often extends above and sometimes below the kneecap.
3. Thigh liposuction
Thigh liposuction reduces fat deposits in the thighs. It is performed through incisions of a few millimeters in the folds of the pubis and navel.
4. Hip liposuction
Hip liposuction reduces fat deposits in the hips. It is performed through incisions of a few millimeters in the folds of the pubis and navel.
5. Flank liposuction
Flank liposuction reduces fat deposits in the flanks. It is performed through incisions of a few millimeters in the folds of the pubis and navel.
6. Armpit liposuction
Armpit liposuction reduces fat deposits in the armpits. It is performed through incisions of a few millimeters in the folds of the pubis and navel.
7. Double chin liposuction
Double chin liposuction reduces fat deposits in the double chin. It is performed through incisions of a few millimeters in the folds of the pubis and navel.
Your preoperative consultation
A preoperative blood test is carried out according to prescriptions, and the surgeon, accompanied by the anesthetist, is seen the day before the procedure. No medication containing aspirin should be taken within 10 days before the procedure, and it is recommended to stop oral contraception (birth control pill) 1 month before. It is also advised to stop smoking.
Liposuction in Tunisia: Postoperative recommendations
Two to seven days of rest should be considered after leaving the clinic. A compression garment is prescribed and must be worn day and night for 4 to 6 weeks after liposuction. Showers are possible from the next day, but baths are contraindicated for 3 weeks. Sports activities should be stopped for 3 to 6 weeks. Of course, the rest period varies depending on the amount of fat removed. Bruises and swelling appear in the treated areas but disappear within 10 to 20 days, and the pain is minimal. The patient can return to normal life within a week after the procedure. The treated areas should not be exposed to the sun or UV rays for at least 3 months.
Postoperative follow-up
These are simple checks performed by the surgeon at regular intervals during the recovery period. The surgeon ensures that the swelling subsides properly and that the skin regains its elasticity. The surgeon ensures there are no postoperative complications. As part of your liposuction procedure in Tunisia, your surgeon will remain available to you beyond your stay, providing follow-up after your return and throughout your recovery period.
